Prototype: Experiments in Puppetry

Running Time
60 mins

14yrs +

Tobacco Factory Theatres

Start Time

Prototype nights are for both artists and audiences – a chance to test new ideas and an opportunity to respond to what’s being made right here, right now.

Tobacco Factory Theatres is excited to present its established Prototype platform as part of this year’s Festival with a focus on work including puppetry, mask performance, object manipulation and physical theatre.

The line up...

Odd Doll will be presenting Seaside Terror, a celebration of the horrors of British holidays from the 1970s. You’ll meet a rather sinister ice-cream man, evil seagulls and zombie donkeys.

Hanna Habermann and Marie Lechevalier are sharing their version of The Little Match Girl featuring table top and shadow puppetry.  This is their first collaboration and venture from model making and animation to live puppetry.

Katarina Cakova presents Island Home, an intimate performance with a micro set and puppets. Katarina is a visual artist with a background in illustration and carving.

Fresh from Brainchild and Shambala Festival, Wondering Hands Theatre will be performing Sex and Puppets. This company trained with the Curious School of Puppetry.

Looking forward to Prototype? We think you might also enjoy The Smoking Puppet Cabaret 1 Sep (FREE!) If you want to find out more about support for puppetry organisations and artists in the UK check out the Festival Breakfast 9 Sep with Rachel McNally - Puppet Place CEO and Chair of Puppeteers UK.

PS You can also watch New Visions: Materials Stories at 7pm - short films from the next generation of talented film makers and animators.

Prototype gave us the confidence and security we needed to develop our idea.
